Directory Upgrade

Now that we have the Free version of the App up and running, we are currently spending time on upgrading the website. After 5 years the old girl is a bit tired and in need of improvements. During this time, some of you may have noticed that the search screen is missing. Don’t worry, it will be back soon, better and faster.

We have been severely chastised by some users for removing it, but we do remind those people that the whole of the website service, whilst free to use, does come at a cost to us, so we would appreciate your patience whilst we try to improve on things.

In the meantime, please try out the Free version of the App. You can still find the same campsites but it is much faster than the website. There are a few limitations compared to the premium version, but they will still not stop you finding some great campsites and RV related businesses while you travel.

Suggest Listings to Us

We are constantly looking for new camping sites to add to the FRC Directory, and appreciate it when you all help us out. We have now made this a little easier with the addition of a new function in the app.

After logging into the Free Online Maps or the Premium Members, Maps + Extras area, on the top of the Map page, you will now see a small icon that looks like the one in the image above. By pressing on this icon, you can simply place a map marker on the site you wish to tell us about.

The address will then be automatically entered, so you just need to tell us what type of campsite it is, any facilities at the location and send it in. We will then fully research and verify the site for you and make it available for all to see.

Speaking of new sites, and thanks to our support staff and many contributions, we have only this month added over 60 new sites in the Northern Territory. These comprise of a mixture of Free Camps, Campgrounds and Caravan Parks, and we still have more to come. You can find these new sites along with all the others in the Free Range Camping App.

Albany and the Great Southern Coastline

A trip to the west would not be complete without checking out Albany.

Albany is Western Australia’s oldest town and was settled before Perth and Freemantle. It has a magnificent port and some of the most stunning beaches on the Great Southern Coastline.

It is the site of one of Australia’s last whaling stations and nowadays makes a great vantage point to view these magnificent creatures as they migrate. There is plenty to see and do in the region which is diversified and rich in history. There are also a wide range of camping options available.

The String Family

This amazing family have managed to combine their love of music, with their love of travel. They live full time on the road travelling around Australia in their caravan and performing to many travellers as they go.

Their journey started in 2016 when they decided to busk their way around Australia. Set up with their 23 foot Jayco Whitehawke which is towed by their trusty Toyota Landcruiser, they left their home in Illawarra with no set plans.

They have currently stopped off for a while at the amazing Paronella Park in FNQ, where they will be performing on a nightly basis from now until November.

Camp at Old Bara

This month we have a look at Camp at Old Bara located near Mudgee in NSW. A unique 1100 acre cattle property offering spacious camping in the country. It is a family operated park that welcomes pets and offers a great variety of sites scattered all over the property.

Strainer meet Bucket meet Campers

Following last month’s very popular giveaway, hundreds of Premium Members entered the drawer to win three Strucket’s. They also came up with 101 different uses for the Strucket around the campsite.

From doing the dishes, washing the car, and even as a small dog wash, the uses were endless.

We are now please to say we have the Strucket available for purchase in the Free Range Camping Shop.

Last Month’s Winner

Congratulations to last month’s winner of the family of Strucket’s. David Caddy from Crawley, WA who is going to use the Strucket mainly for fishing, but also keeping his drinks cold on the next camping trip.
